Single family home -- a guy moving from Twin Peaks to get closer to downtown. Bought it for a song (just over $2 million). Put in a garage on the 19th street side. Put in a community space in the basement (tax write-off?). Put skylights on the roof. It's an incredible & huge space with some really cool features that I saw when the pastor & his wife were there one day cleaning stuff out. Hopefully the buyer maintained a lot of the unique features. He did take out many of the stained glass windows (anyone know what happened to them?). Because it's a single family home, law did not require an earthquake retrofit, so it's still an unreinforced masonry building (which means stay near the exit if you ever go to an event in the basement). I wonder if he made a little earthquake-safe cage to sleep in?

it is definitely true, based upon the building permit docs that were hanging on the thing for months.

"single family residence"

the property was sold by Sotheby's, and it was on the market for a very short time (like a couple weeks).

how the property will actually be used is obviously anyone's guess...but i'd wager someone's living in there by next spring.

I heard that this was becoming a private house. Is this true, and if so is there any info on the owners/future residents?
