BREAKING NEWS: Dosa Now Accepts Reservations

Best public relations email of the day:

Hi there,

Just wanted to let you know the original DOSA on Valencia is now accepting reservations.  The hours are as follows:

Mon-Thurs and Sunday 5:30 -10 p.m.
Friday and Saturday 5:30 – 11 p.m.
Sat and Sun brunch 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Update: Doctor Memory translates:

“Having ridden our Hot New Hipster Joint wave as far as it was ever going to take us, and having never had any plan for what to do once it was over, we’re going to try desperately to act like a real business and hope that all of our neighbors forget us spitting in their faces for the last three years continuously.  We look forward to the next six months of staring forlornly at empty tables, and then re-opening as a laundromat.”

The hell with Dosa. The better Dosa is at Udupi, for half the price and none of the attitude.

  3. plumpy says:

Yikes, why the Dosa hate? Everyone there (servers, host, bartender… everyone!) has always been incredibly sweet to me. Like, far nicer than most places, even. I’ve been like four times, too, so it wasn’t just a fluke.

What do you mean about spitting in the neighbors’ faces?

  4. yeah dosa isn’t very good. i really like that style of indian food, but i feel like dosa was really mediocre (though to be honest Udupi Palace is not much better).

  5. Eric says:

As a method for getting dosa inside me, I find Vik’s in Berkeley to be much more efficient… and tasty!

  6. misterpharmacist says:

I don’t know, I wish Dosa was a check cashing place or a methadone clinic.

  7. theft says:

I’m confused. When did they spit in who’s faces?

Whatever. I called Friday night to see how long the wait was. It was 30 minutes, so I asked if they could put me on the list, and they were like “no, we’ll put you on the list when you get here.” So much for a reservation system.
