The couple who put their names down before mine were asking the hostess if it was always this busy, and that this was their first time. The hostess was like “you either come at 5:40 or 11″. what?! The hostess was not the same as usual, and seemed a little flustered.

maybe there should be a table for the regulars who just want a sandwich and a beer. Like a 15-20 minute maximum.

We came back at a little after 9 figuring people would flake, and sure enough we got in soon after. Regardless, this was the biggest wait I’ve ever seen – it will be interesting to see next week and how big a factor the KQED report was.

Maybe some sort of charity donation-based reservation system could help — some sort of auction to reserve a table?

It would be epic if they could put a truck out front for just the sandwiches…

With all the beer flowing, people were tending to linger at thier tables longer than usual, which increased the wait times. By 8pm, we were really feeling that pinch.

We had empty tables by around 11, but by then we were starting to run out of some of the beers, and a few of the most popular menu items.

I think the word might be out about MSF Saturday nights.
