Aphids are bad news, but the ladybug is their mortal enemy. And the larvae kick ass, NOM NOM NOM:
“Watch for the little alligator-like lady beetle larvae too. They’re charcoal gray with orange markings. If you see them, you know the lady beetles are breeding in your garden. And this is good, because the larvae can eat 100 aphids in an hour, compared to the 100 a day an adult lady beetle can eat. Big difference!”

I said I thought the ladybug logos odd, for as a Californian I don’t think of ladybugs as pests, but the Michigander I was with set me straight, saying that just the other day she was on the phone with her mom, and Mom goes, “Egad, I’m fighting a swarm of ladybugs trying to invade the kitchen!” Knock ‘em dead, Pestec.

each color represents the current round of treatment. with a team of 7-9 Mosquito Abatement Couriers (MACs) it takes about three weeks to cover the entire city. From around March to October we do approximately 12 rounds. we mark the curb so that we know what has been treated that round, and also so the next MAC who does that neighborhood will know which catchment basins were missed the previous round.
