my main issue with this is; why does s.f. radio suck so much? i don’t want green day, i don’t want chris isaac, i don’t want r kelly, sleeves on hearts is only 1 day a week, and pirate cat gets under my skin in a bad way after 10 minutes.

it’s not like s.f. is the oasis of cool radio, but at least energy 97.7 was fun.

They didn’t lose $30M because of the dance format, they lose $30M because investors at the height of our last boom actually thought a station with such limited range was a sane price. It isn’t. It never should have sold for that much to begin with. A dance format at $7M might make money. If for some reason a true Top 40 (I had no idea stations still did that) does take off in this market, a major player with a much stronger reach and signal will crush them within a single ratings cycle.
