There are plenty of other breakfast gems in the Mission, particularly Jarritos and Torta Gorda. I worry that mentioning them here will result in having to wait for a table at either in the future, but realize that if people haven't checked these places out yet, then it's because they like to wait outside and be seen.

Dave, "a flat, Mexican Croissant"... is just brilliant. I lived at 14 in a tiny Mexican town (the stories about my life there would blow your mind) and the local tortilla factory put out stuff that was just that. I would be curious how you stand on the north-south theory, that in California, the food gets better as you go south. My thinking is that due to the massive migration this is no longer the case. Basically California from Santa Rosa on down is one big latino food love-fest. But on the other hand, good luck with croissants. Except at 18th and Guerrero.

What hurts a lot of these places is the fact that many of them are simply not memorable. Places like Cancun stand out b/c they have the best goddamn tasting tortilla of any burrito joint in the City. I mean, it's like a flat, mexican croissant. If you can't do anything to distinguish yourself from the other 17 tacquerias on the same block, well, not everybody is going to survive.

And you forgot to mention the service is fast and the orders are huge!
But we still miss that lovely -and hotty- waiter who worked there until last year.
