hoodia arises in chunks of green vertical stems and is actually a succulent, not a cactus. furthermore, hoodia may work right away, or may take several weeks. it’s found in the areas surrounding kalahari desert in southern africa. unfortunately, however, it turns out that in this industry, there is not an agreed upon terminology of exactly what hoodia gordonii is in the laboratory. every years consumers spend more than $40 billion on products, which are supposedly designed to help them lose weight.

Apparently there was a local band in the mid-90s called “Rum Balloon”. My guess is that this refers to them, but who knows, maybe they got their name from this inscription.

it’s not in the mission, but there is some sidewalk engraving on parnassus near stanyan that says fuck teeth or maybe it says teeth fuck. Each time I walk by I wonder which way I’m supposed to read it.
