I must say I hate the term progressive unless it refers to Roxy/Eno/Crimson. Glad it’s called out in quotes here. I think it’s time to retake liberal from the fascists. Liberal used to be the word, but the neo-cons got everyone believing the false equivalence of liberal and welfare mom/socialist/knee jerk. Nothing good has ever come from conservatism. By its nature it can’t. Good things come form a freer mind-set, the onset of good things is often seen as progress — from slavery to freedom, from poverty to wealth, from sickness to health — so its easy to conflate the progress of liberalism forming a new and silly word progressive. When punk hit in ’75, in the full flower of progressive, it was also known as regressive, the opposite of progressive. So you see if you’re at all punk, or at least 3rd generation descendant cool-kid, you can’t possibly be progressive.

So a shit-load of wanna-be hipster kids unhappy with the city they were born in comes to our little part of the world and now it’s a “progressive” neighborhood?

Funny, you could basically swap out “hipster” for a lot of other groups in your sentence like: “hippie” or “punk” or “yuppie” or… I guess that’s why SF is considered a transient (in the broadest sense of the word) town.

“Progressive” is what has destroyed San Francisco.

I always want to erase the “s” from “paninis” since panini is already the plural of panino. See what a semester of Italian class has done to me?
