I Guess it is Cold Enough Outside to Freeze Hell

I was totally digging the winter air this morning riding my bike around town.  Dancing exhaust and cold ears; I even saw snow falling off the mud flaps of a semi.  Then I saw new construction at La Rondalla.  Snow then this?

So, is this place seriously about to reopen?  Anyone have the inside scoop?  I hope they don’t loose that hella cool padded door.

I was looking in the window a couple months ago and the owner came by and took us inside for a tour. It’s totally gutted with some remodeling starter and he was hoping to reopen it soon he said. So, hopefully it will reopen. He seemed optimistic.

Our agents interviewed construction guys who also indicate the reno is being done by the same owners.

yes, what johnny0 says/links to. it was slightly broken english, but the workers photographed here tell me it’s “the same,” as in same restaurant. interesting … i mean, i know they’ve kept up with all the major events since shuttering, what, a year-and-a-half ago? all i really wanted was them to put up or shut up. looks like they’re putting up.

Talked to the owner today. He is going to try and recreate the magic of the La Rondalla his parents ran. I wish him luck, and can’t wait to check it out when it opens.

“the magic”? the magic of shitty food, sour margaritas, disgusting health conditions and an apathetic waitstaff?

Hey, I guess as long as it doesn’t get too white, then that stuff is okay.

Well when you’re under 30, you appreciate these disheveled things you disparage here, big M.A.C. daddy. And that, according to my gastronologistological experts is definitely the best window of time for it.

Let’s hope this time they open for business without the rats, the tomatoes that taste like ashtray, and the Gypsy woman who sits in the back. Myself, I will NEVER eat there again.

No, hell no… no fucking way. There’s no amount of gutting that can redeem that place.

In the thirty-two years of my life i’ve had actual food poisoning (not to be confused with getting an upset stomach and puking up food) twice. One of those two times it was from La Rondalla. I called the city health department and submitted a ticket, never got a call back.. i called them to see if they followed up and i swear to god the guy on the phone said “you ate at La Rondalla? Yeah, well we’re following up with the restaurant but can i give you some advice? If you don’t want to get sick, never eat there again”.

With that said.. maybe i’m loopy but when they reopen i’ll actually try them again considering i’d hope they would have fix all the issues that got them shut down and did really enjoy the vibe and the padded door to the bar.

I’ve heard that they’re working on opening the bar first , for most part so they don’t lose the liquor license. Don’t know if/when the restaurant will reopen.

Never ate there…but the bar was the shizzzzzznit!
