That was my picture, and the grasshopper taco was pretty good! They're crunchy and really salty. It's like eating a taco of chili flavored sunflower seeds with the shells still on.

However, the real reason to check out La Oaxaqueña is for the pupusas. Seriously, they're the best in the game. Goat cheese & sundried tomato = amazing. The tamales are pretty good as well. The mole sauce is so incredibly good and is rumored to be flown in weekly from Mexico. They also have whole fresh coconuts (aka. magical hangover curing potion) for $3, which is great since Yamo around the corner (who used to be my fresh coconut hookup) stopped serving them.

The grasshopper tacos aren't great, but they are worth getting for the experience.

Also, they have tarantula on the menu, but won't have any in stock until early August. Can't wait to try that.

Thanks for the shout-out. I haven't been posting as much now that I'm working in Emeryville and am only wandering around the city on nights and weekends. :(

I can't believe a grasshopper taco is for real available right here in SF. I'd go with you to get one. Seriously. I'm a vegetarian but I once had someone make a successful argument to me at Incanto as to why I could eat the snails, and I don't think grasshoppers are philosophically all that different, plus that's the sort of thing you just have to try once.
