Times change; “Frisco” has been replaced by far worse epithets… notably, both “San Fran” and “Cali”. “Frisco” now seems relatively mild, in comparison. Hell, “Baghdad By The Bay” doesn’t even sound all that bad anymore.

Actually this is from Emperor Norton, a San Francisco resident (and immigrant from London) in 1872…
“Whoever after due and proper warning shall be heard to utter the abominable word “Frisco”, which has no linguistic or other warrant, shall be deemed guilty of a High Misdemeanor, and shall pay into the Imperial Treasury as penalty the sum of twenty-five dollars.”

As an SF transplant to NY, let me state the obvious here by saying that the Metro is a crappy free daily paper pushed on NY residents as they exit and enter the train…nothing that 90% of the New York metropolitan area take seriously.
