Improved Gigantesmobile

Check out this studly Gigantesmobile parked outside of Parea at 19th/Valencia – what better steed to carry SF’s boys in orange to victory today?

There’s something missing though….

There we go!

Theatre Review – Habibi

Fellow theatre enthusiast Katie Cruz and I recently attended a press showing of Intersection for the Arts and Campo Santo‘s newest play, Habibi, running now through November 7th. Both of us are big theatre people (you can tell by the way I spell “theatre”!) and would love to encourage more people our age (70 and under) to actually go see live performances. In the Bay Area we have all kinds of great companies and houses, including Intersection, ACT, Shotgun Players, Berkeley Rep, etc.

To begin reviewing plays, Katie and I had to come up with our rating system. First we came up with a lot of funny jokes that weren’t actually that funny and not very useful, then we came up with a system (shown below) that rates plays on a five part scale.

Hopefully that’s helpful. Anyway, on to our reviews:

Wolverine Party

unionmade, wolverine, 1,000 mile boot, san francisco, mensware, fashion, workwear

It’s a man’s world, so break out the flannel and brush your beard this Thursday to hit up Unionmade‘s big boot debut. The rough-and-tumble mensware store is kicking off an brand new edition of Wolverine’s 1,000 mile boot with a workwear affair to rival a caber toss; but we know the real reason you’re going: the cocktails.

Now this is a good use of public space, if you ask me.

Thanks, Rachel!

Rally Kitten

Uh oh, less than one hour to go before the first pitch!  Almost time to break out the Rally Kitten!

PS.  Please do not make fun of the Rally Kitten for having a weird tiger nose or a head that is seemingly too large for his body.  He is already starting to develop a complex.

Bike Sharing Coming to SF!

Says Inhabitat:

The program will allow registered members to unlock bikes electronically with a “smart card” or credit card for a set amount of time, with fees determined by how long the bikes are taken out (much like Zipcar). Trips for half an hour or less would be free. And in order to deter would-be thieves, each bike will be outfitted with GPS units and RFID identification tags.

Rad! Bike sharing always looks like so much fun! Read on!

Star Wars Meets Día de los Muertos

Guera de Estrellas!  Noticed this over at, who you may remember was responsible for the non-paparazzi shot of Dave Chappelle at Pakwan a while back.  Check out the rest of them here!

BTW, don’t forget to donate to the Dia de los Muertos non-profit because the city has raised permit fees and the organization is in a funding crisis!

Beady-Eyed Egghead

This oddly menacing guy is scrawled on the trash bin in the men’s room at Beretta. Why would someone vandalize Beretta? Perhaps the vandal, like me, was upset to find the Improved Whiskey Cocktail no longer officially on the menu. Sure you can still order it, but how will future generations even know it exists?

The Selby Goes Inside Humphry Slocombe

Not a lot you maybe haven’t already seen, but it’s a lot of nice pictures.

[Thanks, Mike and Al!]
