Who Wants a Permanent Parklet in Front of Ritual Roasters?

I do! (Mostly so’s it would pave the way for a permanent parklet out front of Arizmendi, and lots more permanent parklets all over town.)

Anyway, it’s been proposed, and Robert from Dolores Park Works tells us it may or may not be facing some opposition, so keep an eye out for word of some kind of public hearing, so you can attend and voice your opinion.

Yay! sitting on a shitty little patch of dried up sod right next to where angsty drivers are tearing past because they’re pissed that they can’t find a parking spot sounds like good times!

  2. erlthegirl says:

If it would get people off the sidewalk so I can actually walk by that would be awesome.

    • DocPop says:

Ditto! It’d be nice to free up the sidewalk for pedestrians. It can get annoying trying to navigate through a group of folks just standing around, while simultaneously trying not to trip on a leashed up dog.

On a similar note, I feel sorry for the folks whose entrance is always blocked by people who think the stairs are chairs.

The parklet in front of Revolution has turned out to be a really nice addition to the neighborhood and I’d love to see more.

  3. superdilettante says:

That depends; will the parklet ALSO be filled with douchebags on their laptops?

  4. Jason says:

I’d rather see one in front of Four Barrel first.

    • orki says:

Actually, I saw they had a notice from the city about their request for a parklet taped in their window about two weeks ago. So perhaps Four Barrel will be getting one first after all.

I think this is a terrific idea! I would love to see the same kind of thing they have in front of Revolution (or whatever it’s called) on 22nd!

  6. no.thanks. says:

only if lostweekend hosts movie nights and bands on the parklet.

  7. manymachines says:

Bike parking would be a better use of the space.

  8. sheabones says:

Less state parks, more skate parks!

  9. pollywog says:

Actually, there *is* a whole new series of permanent parklets planned for the city — permits were just issued a few weeks ago. (La Lengua, represent: one’s going in front of Cafe 78 on 29th St.)

  10. Jack and Jill says:

I kinda feel like Ritual is fading out of popularity just as myspace did. Immensely popular at first, only to be replaced by a more logically designed and desirable to use format Facebook (four barrel) is that a completely inaccurate assumption.

Please don’t put a park in front of Ritual.

    • safety is for winners says:

      lol get stabbed

    • Herr Doktor Professor Deth Vegetable says:

Well, except for the fact that Ritual coffee is vastly superior to four barrel’s, sure.

      • Jack and Jill says:

Get stabbed? I think that’s a little over the top girl.

Vastly superior? pour over and espresso…Thats it, no other options. Also they moved that awesome roaster out, only to accommodate more craptops to suck on wifi. Borrrrring. Also Four Barrel’s sounds gay, it’s Four Barrel.

      • Herr Doktor Professor Deth Vegetable says:

Oh, I was just talking about the quality of the coffee itself, not any special preparation options. I can’t really speak to the specifics of fancy preparation styles. But if you want that kinda thing, why not just go to Peet’s or something?

I guess I mostly judge places by the quality of their beans/roast. And I agree with you, the douchebags with their macbooks are totally annoying. I mainly just buy beans there and make it at home.

And feel free to ignore safety, he’s just sad that nobody takes taggers seriously.
