It’s like a big pretzel, but in bread or roll form. In Germany they call it “Laugenbrot” and I think it’s “Lye Bread” in English.. It has a base (base as in the opposite of acid) glaze and is awesome. I’ve asked at a few bakeries here but so far, nothing.. They just look at me like I’m “that guy” when I say, “You should have it.. it’s very popular in Europe.”

Actually the only time I had it in SF was on a Lufthansa flight leaving SFO. :)

Anyway, maybe they have it at some German restaurants, Suppenkuche perhaps?
