  1. They are called “ASR 1025293″ and “ASR 1064388″, aka the city’s “Central Radio Station“:

This facility has one 180 foot (54.9 metre) tower, ASR 1025293, and one 197 foot (60 metre) tower, ASR 1064388, providing communications support for the City Police and Fire Departments, 911 dispatch system, Sheriff, District Attorney, Office of Emergency Management, Public Utilities Commission and the Unified School District (operating radio station KALW).

We should have a naming contest!

  2. Anthony says:

So if, hypothetically, one wanted to knock out police communications…

  3. Jon says:

So nimby neighbors won’t allow cell antennas to go up, yet somehow we have a humongous tower that only provides a tiny amount of usage for city services?

  4. Hi there! This post could not be written much better!
Reading through this article reminds me of my
previous roommate! He constantly kept talking about this.

I am going to forward this article to him. Fairly certain he’ll have a great read.
    Thank you for sharing!

  5. Awesome blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost
on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress
or go for a paid option? There are so many
choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed ..

    Any recommendations? Many thanks!
