After further reflection, I’d like to add that some people have great ambitions, some modest, some public, and some private — there is room enough in our world for all of them. The Oakland Post was among other things, the home of the murdered newsman Chauncey Bailey, whose killers are currently on trial in Oakland.

Chauncey was old-school I guess. He believed journalism was about covering real stories that impact neighborhoods and the people who live in them.

And he was killed for it.
