It seems to me that it if the product is not sold any longer then the mural can’t be advertising. By definition advertising needs to sell or promote something.

Hope this is a 4/1 thing, but there was a very similar situation in Bernal very recently and I *think* Campos and others got an exemption for historic signs. Check Bernalwood for the details.

I don’t think you need to look for NIMBYs to blame this on. Notice that both of the options offered by the Planning Department — keeping the “advertisement”, or removing it — require a permit. Wouldn’t that involve a fee?
