My less than 3 year old daughter loves that jungle gym, we were there last week before they ripped it out. I didn't realize they were going to start so soon, but we ended up playing in the pouring rain for some reason and she climbs right up to the top of the jungle gym as she always does, causing my hard to go in my throat as she climbs and slips slightly all the way up and the proceeds to stand up no hands on top.

We'll miss it.

Too bad they are doing both mission and dolores at the same time BUT the one nice thing is that we got a chance to play at Kid Power park by the 16th street BART.

We never go since the street smells of piss and can get a little sketchy feeling in the evening, but the park was really really great. If you haven't gone I recommend it.

Ed: Uh, except that all too often when playgrounds are "renovated" they remove some of the best things. Carousels, Teeter-totters, tetherballs, etc, have all been pulled out of a lot of playgrounds when they are redone.

Not sure I understand.

My dad grew up in a third world country and played with a stick. It was good enough for him. It should be good enough for everyone, amirite?

First time parents that are new to SF and lack a history here, think that their child is the first one ever born. Everything in that playground that is made of medal I played on in the 1970's, and my daughter has played on for the last ten years. The boat and wood structure replaced an older structure in the 70's, and the monkey bars and slides were reused and married to the wood structure. They've been great for 50+ years, several generations, and should be reused again!

It's a reflection of this whole NIMBY attitude that exists in SF since the first dotcom gold rush. Maybe more accurate to say NIMKBY (Not In My Kids Backyard).

You mean, made funner for the kids that use it?

You want the current group of under 6 year olds to have good memories too, right?

I was just over there. Big digger machine going around the boat, those little stumpy steps are all scattered about, and the ladder bridge deal was bent in half on the ground.

My childhood, once again, dashed.

Just like when Children's Playground in Golden Gate Park by Sharon Meadows was taken apart and "up-graded" and plasticified. sad sad sad.
