Operation Ivy’s Jesse Michaels has a rad new blog about swearing angrily

It’s called Jesse Michaels Thrash Metal Blog. It might be about thrash metal? Mostly it is rad. Here are the first seven or eight “posts” I think? Spread over two YouTube videos. That’s right. Enjoy:

This is amazing. “Just cause I talk like John Malkovich”…

“There is no God. Corporations suck. Goodbye.”

This man was responsible for a solid 30-40% of my moral development as a teenager.

  3. “Try going to a fucking Kreator gig in 1983. Let me tell you something it wasn’t fun. Alright. It sucked, you know. That’s why you went.”

    This is absolutely incredible.

I listened to “Energy” about 2,000 times in high school. Hell, I even had a Sharpie-drawn Operation Ivy t-shirt (no Hot Topic way back in ’87).

I gotta pull some of this audio and mix it.

    Thanks for the find!

I’m glad to see that I’m not alone with these ideas.

Everyone listened to Op Ivy… I’m just glad to see that a lot of us grew out of it but still retain it in unique ways.

I like funk… right?! Stuff it.

I remember the pivotal day when my friend Chris showed up to band practice (it was a grunge band) and me and the bass player were jamming on Op Ivy’s “Room without a window”. Chris looked at us in horror and the band broke up. I knew grunge was dead. I played in ska bands for the next 8 years.
