I don’t criticize the organizers at all for it, but I live basically at ground zero for that festival and chose to spend the day elsewhere instead.

More along the lines of the tourist/local split – if you never get the chance to enjoy that stuff and it’s what you enjoy, you’ll be willing to put up with a lot more bullshit for the chance to do it.

On the other hand, if you can visit a food truck any day/night of the week, would you want to stand in multiple ~30 minute lines? Probably not.

If the people who do this want to continue, they’re going to have to rely on the business of early-20-somethings, or change. Kids and people over 30 won’t put up with this crap. Pretty much like Disneyland.
