Excuse my sloppy command of syntax and so forth — what I meant to express was that there is a great deal of pee and poop (largely deposited by the dogs owned by guests of the dog-friendly hotels around Union Square) in the grassy areas around the Square, where people often recline, either because they are homeless, or because they have been smoking way too much medical marijuana.
