I deserve the tix because in 1993 I saw Primus open for Fishbone in a converted art deco movie theatre in Miami Beach. Yes Primus was opening. I caught Fish’s drumstick at the end of the set (a Fishstick as it proclaims) and still carry it with me everywhere close to 20 years later.

1994: Age 16 first music festival north shore of oahu angelo walks through the crowd shirtless, large shaman staff, hits on my friend (we had no idea who he was, just thought he was some crazy), proceeds to walk to the stage and play a set with his pubes hanging out. First time I realized black people are frizzy down there, too. Thanks Angelo!

their probably more needy than me, i have posted a lot retweets, and written a tweets about the roxie, other theaters, and arts orgs., and non profit activity, and on facebook too, as well other social nets in the past, also go all way from novato on bus to your theater, many times a year, if dont give to me give to hell on frisko bay, he does alot of the same

Best concert moment: Angelo hands me the mic while ‘swimming’ on top of the crowd at Axis in Boston – Swim, motherfucker, swim motherfucka swim.

Also, I got thrown out of there show in SF at the Regency Ballroom for stage diving during King’s X set. Who throws people out for stage diving at a Fishbone show!

When I was 17 the 1st ep had just come out. My friends were all skate punks who hadn’t heard them yet. Broke as hell, we’re loafing on the corner in Suburbia. I knew they were playing that night at the Keystone Palo Alto (now gone). I see Angelo walking across the street and he’s walking over to us. He starts talking to my friends. Me: Angelo, I love Fishbone! Angelo: You coming tonight? Me: Too broke Angelo: I’ll put you on. They coming? Me: Not yet. Angelo: I’ll put you on +5

And he did! Seriously, who +5s? A mensch!

I deserve tickets to see Fishbone because of all the time I spent as a grade schooler watching Back to the Beach for their duet with Annette Funicello and for all the crate digging I did to find that soundtrack on vinyl and because not a week goes by when I don’t listen to “ma & pa” and their cover of “what’s new pussycat” with Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. PLEAAASEEEE!!!

Fishbone is one of the most underrated and influential group of musicians coming out of the 80s. Norwood is in my top 3 bassists of all time. Long before Public Enemy ever existed, Fishbone taught this Midwestern white boy about the black experience in USA.
