Day drinking just got real

As of February first, Scottish Spirits Imports (A Fort Lauderdale company, of course) plans to bring this appetizing alcoholic treat to a janky liquor store near you. From their website:

Is there any better sound than the crack of a beer can being opened after a long day of work? What if the can was filled with something a little stronger than beer, say Scotch whisky?

Our “Scotch in a Can” has eight shots (12 ounces) of Scotch straight out of the can − which is indeed a recyclable one. Keeping qualitative and quantitative standards intact, Scotch in a Can maintains high quality without compromising the tone of the beverage.

Retailing for $5, this thrifty, convenient and pool-safe beverage option is sure to be a hit. Enjoy!

Sometimes I wonder if alcohol companies intentionally make products for alcoholic hobos.

With this product, I believe the question has finally been answered.

All over europe and in particular the UK you can buy strong mixed booze in cans and bottles. We get 4loko and bottled margaritas/girl drinks, that’s it. Don’t know if that’s due to container laws or just consumer prefs.

  6. There’s a kind of genius here. Get a 12-pack and you have the shot & a beer conundrum sorted out. Maybe don’t drink all twelve, but you get the idea, four friends & a Wednesday night.

  7. Fuck it says:

Yeah, I can’t really read the fine print. So fuck it. I doubt any drink of 12 oz would have the equivalent of 12 shots in it. Really, do the math, failing that do the meth.

    At long last.

If I remember correctly, I think a shot is one and one half ounces.

There’s no “official” measure, but the CDC defines one “drink” of liquor (for purposes of determining healthy alcohol intake levels) as a 1.5 oz. shot. I’m sure some bartenders would claim its 1 oz., though.

      • scum says:

In Utah a shot is 1.5 oz. legally, everywhere else is up to the bartender but a proper shot is at least 1.5 oz. A jigger used to measure booze for drinks is 1.5 oz. on one side and a lager amount on the other that ranges in size.

        • Is “a lager amount” anything like an “stout amount”?

          HO HO

But, yeah, a shot is 1.5 oz. — all the same, there’s something ironic in your use of the laws in a STATE FULL OF FUCKING MORMONS to prove it.

Just feel glad you don’t live in .uk, most places a shot is 25ml, and if you’re lucky you can find a pub that still serves 35ml shots. (for reference: 1.5oz = 44ml)
