Hey dude I don’t need a goddamn history lesson on the burrito. I’m aware of the fact that they are not Mexican and that Mexico has a thriving culinary culture of its own. We’re talking about the Mission Burrito here. It’s a sacred thing. You think I eat at “dirty, uninspired taquerias” because I think they’re Mexican? I eat there because I ENJOY them that way and I don’t want these yuppie Mission noobs ruining a good thing.

I heard Kreyshawn is behind this change, she came into Faralito and got all angry when they didn’t have a locally sourced, gluten free, teff/chia seed spinach tortilla for her wrap.

Just what I heard. Not saying it’s true.

Dang, mean gringo. Lots of gorgeous ladies gotta deal with Celiac’s Disease, etc, and don’t eat gluten. There are now plenty of gluten-free “soft tacos” (whatever those are). I can think of four taquerias that have gluten free tortillas and tacos al carbon.

I went to El Farolito for the first time in years just the other day. their pastor was something incredible at one point and the thin guac/tomatillo sauce was great. Not so much anymore and I don’t have much reason to go back.

very funny responses. some dip shit actually takes the purist stance on his burrito? burrito are themselves a fusion cuisine – a cross between a (traditional) mexican quesadilla and a taco. created by californian’s to satiate the large american appetite.

and for the record, there are numerous healthful alternative tortillas to be found all over mexico. chile, black bean, and yes, even spinach.

it sure would be nice if americans would understand that mexicans are not just a bunch of people who eat in dirty, uninspired taquerias every day/night. it’s a progressive country with a massively evolving cuisine.
