Rice Paper Scissors with Anthony Bourdain tonight; crab feast this weekend!

I doubt that you’ll find anyone in this city who disagrees that brunch is a very important meal.  Even moreso on the first day of the year–which is exactly why we opted for a popup breakfast banh mi from our pals Valerie and Katie at Rice Paper Scissors.  Just check out how completely satisfied Mike and I look!

It turns out that we weren’t alone in our estimation, as guerrilla food connoisseur Anthony Bourdain also felt the need to check it out himself earlier, and the best part is you can see it all yourself tonight on the Travel Channel’s SF edition of the Layover!

Should you be hankering to try it out for once finally, perhaps for an adventurous date or something, catch the dynamic duo one last time this weekend at the Dungeness Crab House before they head off to Vietnam.

Barefoot outside Delirium on a Saturday night

Are we to infer that she was barefoot inside Delirium too? I shudder.

Black car vs. white car

Looks like black car wins the latest battle at Mission and Silver last night.  Perhaps because black was in stealth mode with the headlights off at the time?

Seriously though, let’s hope no one was hurt.

(Thanks Francisco!)

Definitely see the Fishbone movie at the Roxie

Whether you’re a fan of the band or not, whether you’re a fan of rock docs or not, whether you’ve got better things to do or not, you should see Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone this week at the Roxie. It’s an artfully constructed film from beginning to end, full of laughs and interesting stories, great advice from Flea, epic narration by Laurence Fishburne, great music, great Fat Albert-style animated bits — and tons more. You’ll learn tons about the punk scene in the ’70s, the new wave scene in the ’80s and the alt-rock scene in the ’90s. And you’ll fall in love with this band.

And if you see it tonight or this weekend, the band and the filmmakers will be in attendance, and they’re a fun bunch. You can get your picture taken with Angelo, like Jocelyn here did.
