It's a replica of a pre-war Alfa Romeo race car. Lug nuts on the wheels are a giveaway. It most likely has a VW bug engine in the back and the grill/front section are empty. The real deal is worth $$$. Still a cool car and probably a blast to drive around.

I've been hearing those comments for what, 15 years now? Late 90's dotcom time, esp. - the sky was *totally* falling. And yet, the old folks and their three generation households persist all over the Mission. It turns out that rent control and Prop. 13 do an amazing job of keeping people right where they are. Whether that's a good thing, I don't know.

I spotted this car from a distance as it was coming my way down SVN near 19th St. Since it stopped at a red light on 20th St., it gave me time to whip out my iPhone and stand on the street in order to snap a picture of it as it would drive by. Unfortunately, it made a left turn onto 20th. I didn't know it was on Capp St. Glad to see someone else managed to take a pic.
