Um, what's a "GBV CDs"? On the one hand, you're right -- I do stay home; on the other hand, you're wrong -- I never stop looking for good, newish music, in other ways. On a third hand, a lot of the new music that I discover this way turns out to be old music that San Francisco doesn't seem to want, like fado.

I hate to say it, but if you’ve only heard of three of those bands, you’ve probably already given up on new music. You should stay home. It sucks when my friends slowly become crystallized at a point where they’re sure the best music has already come out. Why ever listen to anything new? Cuz it’s not as easy as listening to the same GBV CDs you’ve had since you were 24. TIMF is mostly about seeing up an coming bass mixed with a few older bands dropping new albums. The best thing about music festivals is they force you to hear new music. The openness and wonder is what’s so great about TIMF.
