Beautification effort coming soon to Bryant Street

I’ve always thought Bryant was one of the prettier thoroughfares in the neighborhood, but I guess the southernmost end needs just a little more juice. They’re gonna remove some left-turn lanes and add medians and bulb-outs in an effort to make things prettier and safer. Mission Local reports:

One of the new medians will go up at Bryant and 26th streets, and another at Bryant and Cesar Chavez streets. The medians will be 8 feet wide, 110 feet long and filled with greenery planted by Friends of the Urban Forest.

Read on for testimony from neighbors and info on how this will affect parking.

Hopefully the double parking that happens between 25th and 26th will be reigned in a bit. I agree with two lanes, but with bouble parking it will get nasty.

    double bubble.

Beautification effort? More like a gentrification effort. Typical yuppies and dot-commers demanding traffic “calming” and “landscaping”, with the fly-by-night developers coming in to do their bidding. That’s not the Mission I grew up with – this place is becoming the Marina.

Yeah well, it’s on my block and it’s going to be sweet. So suck it.

    • lol says:

For as much as you natives bitch about all us transplants from the south and the midwest, I think y’all would really like it anywhere but here. Nothing ever changes, just as you like it.

      Yeah, who needs plants!!!!!!

    • wizzer says:

      Don’t like it?

      Then move.

The greening is awesome, and will bring a little more civility to this part of the Mission.

Naw, man. Check out the beautification near 20th and Bryant. That’s where the drunken middle aged semi-homeless people meet.

      • blah says:

ha ha, yeah that one has really backfired. Hard to say why exactly. But you’re right on the money that it’s basically a mini-park for spacey homeless drunks now.

    • DJM says:

If you’ve got a computer, you’re in no position to call anyone else a yuppie or dot-commer.

    • sucks to be you says:

      Ha Ha

I’ve lived here my whole life man… You have no idea how much this sort of shit benefits the neighborhood. I think we’re all sick of hearing the bullshit all of you “proud natives” have to say about things going downhill and the gentrification shit. If you can’t deal with the city getting safer, cleaner a better, move your ass across the bay.

I love beautification, I love trees. But FUCK MEDIANS.
