Firstly, I know that many of your people (heh heh) have expressed an unfamiliarity with, and a hostility to the dictionary definitions of words — so it is understandable, when you refuse to recognize the standard meaning of the word “racist”. Just for the record, though, here is that dictionary definition:

Adj. 1. racist – based on racial intolerance; “racist remarks”
2. racist – discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion

Secondly, many, many non-white MBAs would take justifiable offense at your implied assertion that using technical jargon, such as “fourth quarter”, specific to their various professions, somehow makes them lesser “people of color”. Business words have business meanings; if you don’t like it, stay out of business. Marginalize yourself all you want, but leave other people’s color alone.

Thirdly… “white people do something and you make fun of it”? Really? Why? I would normally think that racist humor would be something that “people of color” who have no comedic talent or career would like to avoid, because it tends to draw down more hate on them. That sounds like something attributable to youthful liberal guilt — kinda lame, kinda tame — if you insist, though, “make fun” all you want, but… NIGGER, YOU AIN’T NO RICHARD FUCKING PRYOR, NIGGER!!!

That’s actually not racist. Unless calling something ghetto is racist- which only the most Liberal Loser would ever cop to. But just b/c white people do something and you make fun of it- doesn’t make it racist.

Alamo Ritz is awesome. Almost as awesome as the original. Alamo Suburbiafuckville is pretty shitty.

Hopefully this follows the Original/Ritz formula.

Though, as an Austinite, I vote to keep Austin weird/ keep your California out of my Austin, etc.

Leave Austin cool stuff in Austin. Globalization NWO bad!!

I thought keeping it real in the mission meant that your mom and dad help you pay your rent and expenses?

As long as this theater keeps the content interesting with Film Festivals and Independent films it sounds like it could be a pretty great place. I still miss the Red Vic.

To explain some of the confusion, there are both Arty and more mainstream Alamo Drafthouses. The ones run by Tim directly are all more Arty ones. They did an amazing job renovating the Ritz in Austin and I’m sure they’ll do a great job with the New Mission.

The Drafthouse is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in a theater. They care about the movies (and the food and booze) but aren’t snooty or more overpriced than restaurants. They will kick out talkers/texters, no exceptions.

Which today is playing The Dark Knight Rises and Weird Wednesday: Shark!
I don’t know which Alamo you looked at, but obviously it was one of the larger ones.
