I don’t know anything about the man, his music, his wedding or his wealth but on a walk last week with some out of town friends, we happened upon his parklet. OMG! Awesome. How many other people in the city have turned their front yards into public spaces. Not counting Adolph Sutro, I can’t think of any. So, I will withhold any judgement about the other aspects of his humanity. But the parklet is fucking great! Thanks for doing that for the neighborhood. I have lived in the Mission for 20 years and you made me think that maybe, just maybe, we aren’t being completely gentrified by stupid pricks who belong in the suburbs.
Then we came across the playground of the entitled rich in Dolores Park but that is rant for another day.

Dude, I understand that if you’re a miserable person you’re going to be annoyed if someone around you is happy and enjoying their life but you really should refrain from saying things like “…his whole persona seems to be kinda rubbing it in the face of everyone around him.” Because it makes you look like a really insecure and spiteful person. I love it. I was really impressed when you redid the paint — a more modern take on the typical Victorian color scheme, it looks fresh and crisp while still harmonizing with the rest of the neighborhood. Congrats on the wedding.

As a witness of this event and a person who is proud to call ‘Deep and Kimberly my friends, I can’t understand why there are trolls on this post being butthurt over the things ‘Deep does in his attempts to enrich the community. While I can see where you are coming from with being pushed into traffic by the trike, why not take a moment to realize that living life too quickly causes you to miss things, such as the smiles on pedestrian faces. Why not slow down and try to speak to a man who has always struck me as open, both as a person or about criticism.

Any ways, tl;dr. Summary: Don’t be a butthurt troll online if you don’t have the stones to address kind people about your concerns.

P.S. – Trixforkids, you sound reportably pedo.

I was just thinking about it, but it takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there like that and have a public wedding where any random snarky stranger can go out of their way to ruin your day. I wonder how many of these people that have a beef have actually ever said anything about it to the person directly as opposed to silently nursing some self-inflicted grudge and then crying about it later online. Imagine that, the self-loathing anonymous hipster from the Mission blog is going to be annoyed with the guy who figured out how to enjoy life. At the end of the day, people know Deep. He’s a real person and a part of this community. Now compare that to the anonymous online attacks.

‘Deep builds community. He’s one of the people who makes San Francisco a spectacular, every-changing, DIFFERENT, unique place. He expends substantial portions of his own resources (time, money, elbow grease) in the pursuit of giving others some goofy, unexpected, bouncy happiness. As you’ve seen from his comments, he’s also an open and genuine and honest and forthright person – which makes it hard for folks who know him to see anonymous smack-talk about him.

What I’ve learned from this thread:

There are people that live on Valencia that love to complain online about the loud traffic on Valencia. I imagine these are the same types of people that move into black neighborhoods and then complain online that there are too many black people hanging around their house.

Chalkman would like to bust out his old boombox and go play some Minor Threat and Joy Division. Hey, it’s a free country. Do it or don’t do it but it’s just kind of sad to read peoples comments online about what they would like to do but never really end up doing. That’s the kind of conversations senior citizens have in retirement homes as they look back in their life with regret. Right before they die.

Looking forward to trixrforkids next free party. You know that guy must be super fun to party with. With a screen name like that I just imagine a cranky Jerry Sandusky yelling out the window “Hey, turn that music down! I’m trying to rape some kids over here!”

I’ve got to second this comment. Its often hard to travel in the same direction as Deep’s trike because the music is so intrusive and imposing.
