Woah, did you know you can “walk” through Bi-Rite using Google Maps? I didn’t either, until I accidentally dragged the little yellow Google dude on top of it. See for yourself.
It’s surprisingly high-resolution. You can even zoom in and read the sandwich menu. Glad Google decided to preserve this snapshot of history. In 10 years we’ll be looking back at this and saying, “wow I remember when a 2″ x 2″ block of artisanal cheese only cost $7!”
Anyone know any other places that have this enabled? I want to live vicariously through my web browser as I work all day in an Oakland cubicle.
Looks like there are loads of places in the Mission now. If you zoom out a bit to the map view, then go to drop the little yellow google dude like you would to get to street view for an area, you’ll see a bunch of blue circles in buildings and off street areas you can drop him into.

BTW these photos were taken at least 2 years ago (I can tell by the way my house looks once you get onto 18th St).
That’s the only way you can get a clear view of the shelves at Bi-Rite — normally, strollers and book clubs block everything.
Exactly! Too bad you can’t see the wine/coffee section though.
this would be about 1000% more exciting and drool-worthy if it zoomed in to a close-up of Wes.
