Woody Allen filming in the Mission today

Reader Jennifer W. shares the news:

Thought your readers might be interested that the new Woody Allen movie is filming at the New Central Cafe (on S. Van Ness @ 14th) today. I live 1 block over on Shotwell and there’s no parking all up one side of the block so production trailers can come in. The production company listed on the flyered notice is “Perdido Productions,” which according to IMDb is working on “Untitled Woody Allen Project” known to be shooting in SF this month. Cate Blanchett might be in a trailer across the street from me right now!

Wow!

UPDATE: SFist has some video of the scene.

This is legit. I just biked past. I’m rarely starstruck, but c’mon. This is Woody Allen.

Yeah, saw it this morning as well. That said, is “New Central Cafe” a real place or are they just dressing up an empty space for the shoot? That space used to be Los Rosales until it closed a while ago and I hadn’t even noticed that it might have reopened as a cafe (or not).

I watched two guys hang that “New Central Cafe” sign yesterday. It’s just a decoy. Next door there’s a sign that says “El Jazz Caliente”.

    • Gabby says:

      yeah, its a real place.
i live on the same block and the tortas de milanesa are the best and the fact that you can get it in a burrito is even better. it’s not the best quality, but as a michoacanan i can always get behind a place that serves goat soup on weekends.

  5. Anne says:

Yes, New Central Cafe is a real place. The sign outside used to be really small until it got spiffed up yesterday.
