Mine is a video entry but here's the background - 2011 was not a smooth year for my family. From romantic breakups to mental breakdowns (with an open heart surgery and some broken bones thrown in for kicks) we struggled a bit. My happiest LCD memory is the night last year when we were able to knock the shittyness aside for a couple hours by busting out our kitchen dance moves. My brothers are fucking awesome. My Mom can get down. My Dad doesn't appear, but he taught us to appreciate good music - the kind that moves you regardless of whether it's your heart or your ass. This is what I want to relive on Saturday.

Hope facebook cooperates: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150416752873363&set=vb.646258362&type=2&theater

My pal and I said "fuck it" and decided to go to New York for their farewell show. Unfortunately, the scalping scum got all the tickets seconds after they went online. Being awesome, LCD put on a series of five shows beforehand and we got tickets.

The Terminal 5 show was all sorts of amazing and throughout the NY trip, those songs were playing in my mind.

I was there.
On the floor.
I'm in the movie.
Seriously.
It was one of best moments of my life.
The most underrated LCD song is All I Want, London Sessions version.
The best way to have a great time and piss off the rest of the bar? Go to the Internet jukebox and play all of 45:33. Brilliant!

I know Tyler from LCD from Sacto days, and through the magic of the internet and forum boards, we agreed to connect at Coachella. About 15 of my friends and I rented a ridiculously posh mid-century modern house on a golf course, and threw a party (well, actually the entire week's stay down there was one nonstop party) on Saturday night after LCD played. Unexpectedly, Tyler brought EVERYONE from the band, which in turn attracted the young Hollywood starlet boys and girls that tend to go to Coachella. So it ended up being this big debaucherous night, and I couldn't help but be reminded of "Daft Punk is Playing At My House". (Sorry.)

LCD Soundsystem played Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago in 2010. It was after This Is Happening came out so of course everyone was waiting for them to play "Dance Yrself Clean" which they never did. Total bummer to say the least. On the way out of the festival, a group of people synced up their phones to all play the song at once, which gained momentum, and eventually people were blasting it from cars and singing it at the top of their lungs. Epic dance party in the streets of Chicago ensued. That was some beautiful shit, let me tell ya.

"All My Friends" played at the end of our friends' wedding reception during which people ran through the dance crowd throwing glitter. We put fake wings on the bride and groom's arms, lifted them on our shoulders and sang this all together. Sounds like a dream, but it actually happened... and that song sealed the experience.
