Drink of the week: the Stranger

I’ve been working my way through the new cocktail menu at Dalva’s Hideout and I think I found the winner. Lemon, gin, cocchi, and sort of bitters float (see pic) make it just the right amount of boozy and mouth-puckering. A healthy dose of Becherovka, a cinnamon and nutmeg-y Czech liqueur that tastes like a Christmas at your drunk grandma’s house, puts it over the top. With hits like this, the Hideout will surely remain my favorite place in town to get a fancy cocktail from a bartender who is not wearing suspenders.

Here’s a pretty good punk song about Diet Coke

It’s called “Diet Coke”:

YOLO tats

One of them is real I think. Can you tell which one?

Precious puppy pair protruding from pedaled pack

In case you haven’t heard, it totally pays to be a puppy.

If you like Berlin-style ping pong, perhaps you should join the San Francisco Berlin-Style Ping Pong League

The inaugural season doesn’t start until fall, but there’s a pre-season game tonight! (And it’s at Dear Mom, so arrive early so you can try out the new dinner menu.)

My Sunday sidewalk score was totally better than yours

I mean, just look at these gems!  Joy Division, New Order, Erasure, Depeche Mode, and even some BOOTLEG PRINCE (written on the back of that cassette is DNA LOUNGE ’94–haven’t listened to that one yet but it is sure to be epic).  The only reason I picked up the Alison Moyet is because the album was named ALF, although I am discovering that it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with my favorite alien.

Isn’t sidewalk music the best?  What’s some of the best discarded stuff that you’ve ever found just lying around here?

Epic hill bomb (with music by Thee Oh Sees and panoramic views of SF)

Whoa!

Thee Oh Sees are making a rare appearance at Bottom of the Hill this week btw.
