Stick it to the Super PACs!

Normally we don’t get all that political here on MM, but with the election coming up soon and amidst all the misinformation floating around, we wanted to point out some of our pals who are trying to shake things up a bit:

Want elections, not auctions? Today, Stick it to Super PACs and reject the auction of political speech to corporate interests and the 1%. Join others around the country who are taking a stand to protect democracy. This post explains why the $433 million Super PACs have raised to influence this election is dangerous for democracy. This website will help you become a proverbial wrench in the gears of Super PACs via email, phone or social media. Take Action!

Fuck Yeah!

This is incredibly stupid. Calling up the Super PACs and telling them you don’t like them is exactly as effective as not doing that. If they cared about the “little people” in the first place, they wouldn’t be Super PACs, now would they?

You’re better off using your time to call your congressional representatives and telling them you want them to tackle the issue. The one and only thing that will make a difference is action on the part of the federal government.

Thank you for posting this MissionMission! <3

Already, over 500 people have gone on StickItToSuperPACs.org and clogged the inboxes of the Top 5 Richest Super PACs along with dozens of phone calls and hundreds upon hundreds of tweets.

While none of us expect Super PACs to 'stop being bad' because of this, it is incredibly satisfying to make life as a Super PAC less comfortable, even uncomfortable for a day.

The eventual reforms that need to be enacted to bring about campaign finance reform and control corporate money in politics will take years. For now, it's fun to get one easy and collective HELL NO on record for those of us who are SO OVER the grey-scale TV ads with ominous music.

If someone prank called me repeatedly, I know I’d take their agenda *very* seriously.

        Political action for mission yuppies

It’s not really about trying to debate these people and get them to understand your point of view. It’s about tying up the Super PAC’s resources so they can’t be used to further the goals of the organization. If time is money and money is speech, then every minute they spend dealing with some bullshit from the public is less speech they get to engage in.

        • MrEricSir says:

Likewise, it’s a waste of your time/money/speech as well. Time you could be spending doing something that’s actually productive instead of behaving like a brat.

          • Stu says:

Man, what is your problem? As if there isn’t enough time in the day to do other productive shit. How much time do you waste here on MissionMission pretending you are not a brat.

Talk about irony, dude. Look, I’m not the one harassing people while they’re at work.
