    The women’s suffrage movement helped make usher in the alcohol prohibition. Maybe it was retaliation for this.

    If I read that correctly, this is actually saying that women are no longer prohibited from drinking in bars. “Saloon-keepers are not prohibited from selling liquors in bottles to women who call for such at saloons.”
