Actually, you can, when one side has the ability to use force well enough that the other side either loses the will to fight or dies. Pick up a history book sometime. It’s happened constantly in human history, all around the world, longer than people have been writing it down.

I know this doesn’t fit with the fashionable “nonviolent leftist” fantasy philosophy, but as a matter of fact, it’s true – violence CAN be stopped with violence.

This whole thing was horrible from start to finish. The aggressor obviously should not have done the violent things he did, the fight shouldn’t have happened in the first place and hitting women doesn’t win favor with anyone. I thought, before witnessing this, that in a situation like this i would be all for beating a aggressor acting like this but my perspective has changed. Stopping him did need to happen but the way in which some in the crowd attempted to do so only kept the fight going. You can’t stop violence with violence, it just doesn’t work like that. At one point there were so many ppl beating the guy up I honestly thought the crowd might kill him. The whole time others were joking and taking pictures, i’ve never been more disgusted. I’m not saying i know the answer or that what he did was ok but i did not want him to get beat to death or get brain damaged.

no body is invincible and anyone in that brawl could have got a bad hit to the head and that would have been it. life done. over. no going back.
