When Kevin Bacon was a San Francisco bike messenger

Our good pal Kate reminded about this gem from 1986 that stars Kevin Bacon as a hotshot stockbroker who loses it all and becomes a bicycle messenger on the mean streets of San Francisco.  Check out the trailer to also catch a glimpse of him racing a young Lawrence Fishburne down some speedy SF hills!

Also, more people need to be doing this in front of bars:

Oh man, the intro to this movie is so fucking hilarious. The red beret inspires him!

haha Quicksilver stunk so bad! It was filmed mainly in LA pretending to be S.F. That movie was so hated in it’s day by SF messengers.

yea it used to be the only cyclists in SF were messengers. They delivered paper, not cheese steaks.

I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I’m with isn’t it, and what is it seems scary and weird.

NSFW due to extreme sexiness of Kevin Bacon’s cycling.

I hung out with messengers back then in the parking lot by Harv’s, nobody road ten speed like that.

    • William Preston says:

I was at Harvey’s back lot on Friday’s too…it was about MTBs, cruisers, or…god forbid…circus bikes!
What was the old lady messenger’s name…..the one with the Lou Ferrigno torso and arms like horse thighs? She was hella on the grind.
