Bagels are boiled as the first step in cooking them. Then they’re finished in the oven.

Meanwhile, Dutch Crunch basically just involves coating any kind of bread with a rice paste mixture before you put it in the oven.

In conclusion, DCB is totally possible and I hope to try one someday.

Seriously? I always thought bagels had to be boiled, too. Indeed, I thought that was basically a defining characteristic.

But, as you point out, I guess that’s not the case. Wikipedia says that, as there is no legally regulated definition, basically anyone can call anything a bagel. Huh. Well, there ya go.
