You can’t possibly think that improving Chavez St is a BAD thing for the neighborhood, can you? If you want to complain about gentrification, there are more than ample opportunities to do so. But if you ACTUALLY live in this neighborhood, then you know what an utter terror crossing Chavez on foot is. This is not only going to make Chavez much safer and more attractive, but is going to make it much safer for families to get to Precita Park, make it easier to support the businesses south of Chavez on Mission, and so on. Complain all you want about what is happening on Valencia, but, really, improving Chavez St is a BAD thing for the neighborhood?

….Just another nail in the coffin of the Mission…. It won’t be much longer before the old Mission is completely destroyed and replaced with the new, rich hipster & yuppie infested hell-hole. It may still look like the real Mission, but this place, which was once rich in it’s own unique culture is quickly losing everything that makes it what it is. The hipsters & out-of-town trust fund babies are continuing to pour into the mission and raise the rent so high that all the natives are forced to move out. It’s sad, depressing and disgusting to watch the neighborhood that I love & call home, being torn apart and trampled over right in front of my eyes…..
