Future BART!

“BART to the Beach,” son! SFist reports:

An ongoing new project, dubbed BART Metro Vision, is seeking to outline various pie-in-the-sky ideas for expanding the train system beyond 2025, and current ideas include adding lines to the Sunset and Richmond, adding stops on the current line at Van Ness and at 30th and Mission, and adding a second Transbay Tube.

    I wish.

Goodbye Ocean Beach, it was nice knowing you.

Don’t hold your breath. Even if there was money & support for the idea (which will take 10 years just to iron out), there’s always some NIMBY who halts all construction

    • MrEricSir says:

In order for NIMBYs to block something, there has to be a proposal for them to block. This BART idea is someone’s fantasy, not an actual plan.

  4. whitney delk says:

I will be that “NIMBY” happily. The Richmond District is a wasteland…way out there and super foggy. Don’t do it!

  5. truth says:

it sucks that they are trying to use that money to expand service instead of giving the operators the $100k + medical and pension that they are entitled to.

Way to buy into the anti-worker lies, there, kiddo.

    • troll says:

I love people who have nice, cushy desk/office jobs that can comment on actual labor where people’s safety and livelihood is involved. Get back to playing the Google pinata game or something.

This is not the original truth.

  6. Ummm says:

    Fuck that, get a bike

    • Herr Doktor Professor Deth Vegetable says:

Are you honestly suggesting that bicycles are a replacement for mass transit? That’s hilarious!

  7. mamiel says:

Makes too much sense so BART would never do it. Also it would stop running at midnight even if it did exist. BART is a joke

    • Herr Doktor Professor Deth Vegetable says:

The reason BART stops running at midnight is because they don’t have a second crossbay tube.

Poor planning in the 1960s, I guess, but if we’re building our dream BART in this thread anyway, it is something that we could rectify. Put another tube through, that way you can have 24-hr service.

  8. Walker not Jimmie says:

FIRST, they should underground 19th Ave from 280 in the south through where it turns back into a freeway in the Presidio. For some people, San Francisco is just a bump in the freeway. Those people should be put into tunnels with the other mole people. This will eliminate a lot of pedestrian deaths.
