“”Pop’s is not going away,” says new owner of Pop’s!”

Looks like that was a lie.

That floor. I wouldn’t worry though. When the Benders guys took over the space that’s now Emperor Norton’s Boozeland they had to chip out the concrete down the the dirt to get years of putrid slime out of the cracks and insure proper drainage. You can still get a stiff drink at a good price there.

Hopefully they’ll be putting in some reclaimed wood and replacing that chandelier with Edison bulbs.

I went to Pops on the last night. Couldn’t manage to get a drink in due to the madness, but I was glad to be there to see it off. I hung out for about 5 minutes then stepped outside. Just then some drunk dude threw a discarded toilet into the middle of street shattering it to pieces.

I was annoyed, but I’m not confrontational by nature, so instead of yelling at the guy, I went and kicked the huge chunks of porcelain out of the way. Because you know, cars will drive over that stuff, get damaged, and bring more drama to an already out-of-control situation. For my trouble, all I got was a “GET BACK ON THE GOOGLE BUS. YOU’RE WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE NEIGHBORHOOD” from that same idiot and his buddy who apparently sized me and my friends into his fantasy of the enemy.

That’s when I realized that I’ve been made to feel that way most of the times I’ve been there… like it was some kind of party that I wasn’t invited to.

I’m going to miss it like I miss high school.

You mean the 30 or so broke ass skater’s brown-bagging it outside? It was one of those idiots that brought the toilet and then he was laying down in the street blocking cars on York. Seriously, if new Pop’s means those mental-midgets are gone then VIVE LA POPS!

I liked Pop’s because it was basically empty 6 nights a week once they quit having DJ’s.

Typical “Morlocks Vs. Eloi” mindset that San Francisco has been sinking into forever — has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with needing an enemy.

If it re-opens as Pop’s minus the sewer smell and weird taste in the taps, I’ll count it as a win.

Pops is dead. The funeral has been held. Time to move on.

Is it going to become a Bi-Rite? Can someone from the anti-gentrification underground let us know?

Its gonna become another trendy bar. Again. Probably will still b dead during the week most places around there are. Drinks might go up a dollar. I bet they still have a cheap ham. And that sewage smell, was sewage i know the owners of another bar that had the same funk 7 years ago when they bought it. Had to shut down for months during renovations to take care of a massive sewage issue. All in all its probably for the best pops had a good run, hopefully remains a blue collar staple for the area doubt they would do well as a wine bar.

A lot of the smell came from some of the people that drank there. By day it wasn’t that bad, as it got later and more packed the stench got awful.

Greetings! Very useful advice in this particular article! It’s the little changes that make the most significant changes.
