Is Nick Pal in charge this year or what? Can’t wait!

Watch a live broadcast of a video game (Starcraft 2) championship in a bar (Pop’s) this weekend

I just got invited to an event called “Starcraft 2 WCS Finals Live” at Pop’s on Saturday afternoon. Here is the description:

Live Broadcast of WCS Finals from Blizzcon, with big screens, audio and fun people hanging out hard.

I don’t understand what basically any of those words mean, but my pal Nick Pal is hosting this thing I think, and the things he does (like his old booze column here on Mission Mission, Eighty-Five Song Happy Hour which also takes place at Pop’s, or his super fun radio show on BFF) are always pretty cool.

And I know from experience that Pop’s is a great place for watching televised competitions.

RSVP and invite your friends!

Tune into ‘Roll Over Easy’ this morning to learn all you need to know about next week’s election

As we’ve said before, it’s the best morning radio show in town, and today they’ve got Mission Mission alum Nick Pal talking local politics in advance of the big day:

Tune in on BFF.fm, 7:30-9:30am. Or check it out later on via the Roll Over Easy archive.

Eighty-Five Song Happy Hour, where Nick Pal plays short songs because life is short

Longtime Mission Mission contributor (and originator of our occasional Drink of the Week series) Nick Pal has started anew as a DJ instead of a blogger. He hosts four different shows on BFF on Sunday afternoons, and he does this happy hour gig every first Wednesday at Pop’s.

Last first Wednesday, Nick Pal played a lot of great short rock ‘n’ roll songs, from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, ’00s and maybe the ’10s too, including this jam:

See y’all tonight!

KronnerBurger is the best thing

KronnerBurger is just the best. I won’t go into anymore detail than that, since the menu doesn’t either, and part of the fun was being surprised by the nuances and details of the preparations of everything. The food was outstanding, the drinks were outstanding, the space is fun, the music was pretty interesting, the service was great. KronnerBurger is the best. (And they’re open tonight and tomorrow, 5pm-2am.)

(Oh and, yeah, it’s not Cronenburger.)

Confidential to Nick Pal: Hurry up and try the Scotcholate Milk, because it should probably be this week’s Drink of the Week.

Scotch rules everything around me

Wu Tang at Wo Hing! This is the Scotch Scotch Scotch cocktail from Wo Hing General Store, which contains blended scotch, absinthe, lemon, orange, egg whites, soda water, and a little bit of C.R.E.A.M. Is cocktail foam art the new latte art?

Keep your eye out for a full Wo Hing cocktail write-up, coming soon from Nicky P.
