Mission Metrics

Healthy Development Measurement Tool provides sets of metrics, demographic and otherwise, from which we can learn various things about neighborhoods in the city.

Here are some things we learned about the Mission: Proportion of households with 1/4-mile access to a community garden and density of take-out alcohol outlets are both better than twice the citywide averages. Win!

More Mission metrics are here.

We’re #2 for number of public art works next to downtown – 22.

    And #2 in vehicle-bicycle collisions.

Where’s my green paint? You could kill two birds with one stone.

that is a really big win. one of the things that makes the hood so great. we really do have some nice parks. our current fave is parque de los ninos @ 23 & folsom. a really great example of all the socio and eco demographics having fun in one sweet spot. very mission.

we’ve also got TRIPLE the average (75:25) for folks living near a food market. go duc loi! go mi ranchito!

that said, and i’m no statistician, we also have:

50% more “rapes & assaults” than the city average (3:2)
    64% more “physical assaults” (69:44)

    and….drumroll….

    infinitely more homicides (1:0)

    Good Find.

100% of the mission is within 1/2 mile of fresh produce. Bike riders are high, property crime is pretty much invented in the mission compared to the city as a whole.
