Biker Down: 22nd and Capp

A number of people have reported that a cyclist was hit at 22nd and Capp around 6:30pm this evening.

One reader, e., reports:

Woman in Lexus ES 300 hit a man on a bicycle at 22nd at Capp about 10 minutes ago.  First repsonders on the scene.  He was moving around, but stayed laying on the ground.  Didn’t take a picture because, well, didn’t seem right.

I checked out the scene and overheard that someone ran the stop sign, but I did not catch who it was.

Update: If someone did indeed run a stop sign, it wasn’t the cyclist.  From Mission Loc@l’s twitter stream:

“Bike accident @ Capp & 22nd in front of Copa Loca. Lexus going W on 22nd hits a biker coming off sidewalk. Biker okay, but on way to SFGH.” (link)

Just since I realized I beat the anti-cyclist crowd to first: It must’ve been the driver– since they always run stop signs, don’t wear helmets and listen to music! It’s totally his/her fault, I’m sure (based purely on speculation)…

The funniest thing about the wimp-ass bike nazi’s is they never, ever, act out of line if the passengers in a vehicle appear ever so slightly gang-affiliated. Its like the scene at the beginning of office space, where the guy is blasting rap in his car then hides from black people. Too funny.

because we all know how legal it is for cyclists to be riding on sidewalks…
