Area man is taking down your fliers and littering them

Armed with a paint scraper, this guy came blustering down 17th clearing our city’s telephone poles of xeroxed flyers and other like debris. Unfortunately, his cleanliness≈godliness approach did not extend to the sidewalks, where he discarded newly created trash as he continued on his rampage. I tailed him until Guerrero (well, I was on my way home) where he ducked through a doorway to pick up his dry cleaning.

Ah, this is like Ghostbusters. We need to make sure this guy doesn’t meet up with the anti-swing grinch lest all the fun be sucked out of the Mission. And we really don’t want giant Metamucil-man stepping on our neighborhood Churches either.

I think this is the Poster Nazi. Caused a ruckus in the Castro at least once or twice.

    Nice purse.

  4. Bloopie says:

Supposedly was cleaning gunk out of a sidewalk crack on Castro with a ruffled potato chip.

As an independent concert promoter who doesnt have the huge money backing me like bigger promoters and venues I rely on pole flyers a lot to promote and get word out about my shows. I follow all the requirements of the city when it comes to where they allowed, and yet douchebags like this tear my shit down on a regular basis. How am I supposed to get word out if I can’t afford ads in the papers. Things like facebook and email only work for a closed circuit of people, and dont get word out to the general public…

If I come across this guy or the “Flyer Nazi” in the Haight, well, we are definitely going to have some words…

This guy is dealing with some kind of OCD or something. I hate that he just tosses it all on the sidewalk. It makes me think that he’s not really trying to do anything other than scratch an itch.

I used to watch Bevan Dufty do the same thing years ago. BTW: He was one of District 8′s seemingly never-ending supply of lousy supervisors.
It’s a question of personal taste. Some of the stuff that goes up is crap, and some of the stuff is useful; lost pet = useful, come-spend-cash-at-my place = not so necessary.

You know you’re in a bubble when the crazy people start expanding their operations beyond their original habitat.

Soon enough food trucks will be felled by some nasty bacterial menace, web 2.0 will be bust 2.0 and maniacs will recede.

    Mark my words.

The City’s Police Code outlines the regulations against littering in San Francisco. Article 1, Sections 33 and 34. It is illegal to throw or sweep trash onto sidewalks, streets and curbs. This includes paper, cards, newspapers, dirt or any debris. It is also illegal to sweep litter from the sidewalk into the curb or street. Property owners are legally responsible for keeping their sidewalks clean.

His name is Peter Bray…..Google his name with Graffiti. He is the guy who illegally paints all the newsboxes and lamposts around 16th and Valencia with brown or white house paint, making a huge mess to cover up a few stickers or tags. He appears to be a vigilante sociopath.

  13. Jose says:

I had a brief conversation with this man when I saw him tearing down posters put up by the family of the man that was shot to death outside of Double Dutch on 16th. I explained how the family was looking for someone to come forward with some information and his response was that such posters belong in community posting boards and not in the streets. This guy is obviously a DICK.

  14. chalkman says:

why not give him the response you give anyone you see littering…”Hey trashbag, the garbage can is over there, why not pick your litter back up and put it where it belongs?”

  15. Rhett says:

I’m gonna slap him on that bald spot next time I see him.

BS – He paints Chronicle and Examiner boxes and anything he wants, private business walls
He hates stickers! Flyers are a side gig for this guy. Dude is a classic uptight ass – like someone said, a one man vigilanate posse.
