Vegan Cupcakes Rule the Roost at SF Food Wars

blue_ribbon

I know this is hella old news, but it was hard for me to get all pumped to post about cupcakes when I was all fevery n’ stuff.  But yeah, apparently these vegan suckers took first place at the last SF Food Wars and they look reasonably edible.  Blue ribbon baker Cinnaholic has even published the recipe so you can attempt to imitate greatness at home.

(hat tip vegansaurus!)

… if miss marycray loved them, god bless her. im happy she enjoyed them. doesn’t mean i NEED to try, eat or like the vegan cupcakes. i’ll stick with the butter filled ones. they make my fat belly happy. i STILL think you should give regular cupcakes a try…THEY ARE DELICIOUS.

ugh, such poor use of caps lock PLEASE STOP.

i’ve had cupcakes, both vegan and non-vegan, that were good. i’ve had cupcakes, both vegan and non-vegan, that were bad. that’s life. sometimes stuff is good and sometimes it’s bad, vegan or non-vegan. Apparently the best last weekend just happened to be vegan and sucks you have to miss out on the best because you’re close minded but it ain’t my life so whatevs.

i didn’t say a WORD about the validity of the winner. i wasnt even there so my vote doesn’t count. it’s a shame you can’t just make and enjoy YOUR food choices without pushing them on the world. my singular point is we all have choices. i make MINE. you make YOURS. don’t tell me mine are WRONG and I won’t tell you that yours are. it’s the pushy im-so-much-smarter-and-better-than-you-with-my-political-food-agenda-attitude that bothers me. stupid internet battles are lame. but hey we all need a reason to keep on living right? i’m happy to help give yours purpose. it’s the least i can do for the cause. me, my smelly vag and my POOR USE of caps lock are going to go join Kanye for a DOUBLE DOUBLE and a milk shake. ROCK ON!

Congrats to the vegan lady who won…

    @funkybitch

sorry to say this, but you are (your food choice is) WRONG and laura is (her food choice is) RIGHT. if you don’t care about causing pain and suffering, that’s up to you… just saying.

    • lapidgeon says:

Yeah, cause everyone knows that the production of fruits and vegetables is totally pain and suffering free. The bottom line is there is not a pain and suffering free way to eat unless you are doing all your own personal subsistence farming

  6. laura says:

lapidgeon and funkybitch – being vegan is about reducing as much suffering as possible. the truth is, many more animals are killed for food than when we harvest (fruit, veg, grain, etc) crops. Check out this chart and analysis for more info: http://www.animalvisuals.org/data/1mc/

    • lapidgeon says:

Word, I’m not denying that animals are getting slaughtered by the millions. I’m only saying that we as modern American citizens choose to cause pain and suffering in so many ways outside of directly slaughtering animals. So sure being vegan is a start, but its only one of many starts a person can make.

So good on ya for being vegan and making that effort to forge a lifestyle, just dont tell people who aren’t that they don’t care or are wrong.

  7. Anon says:

If it is like the mac & cheese Sf Food Wars, it is because the judge(s) were vegan, so non-vegan entries got screwed.

Whatever suffering in animals vegans reduce, they create 10x in the human world because we have to live with them and listen to them.
