La Lenguans on La Lengua

Not only was La Lengua the subject of a newspaper article yesterday, it also made its debut on the local news. CBS 5 talks to Burrito Justice and a few other La Lenguans, and gets a lengua taco at some place called “Taqueria Can-Can.”

Watch it here.

my favorite part was when mr sugerman was telling that latino guy that the name of his neighborhood had changed.

  2. Juanpablo says:

Now they just need to get it on Craigslist as a neighborhood selection.

  3. SCUM says:

I love it when white people make up names for their neighborhoods.

  4. Stu says:

Clearly the cat had Mike Sugarman’s tongue. Some of the worst reporting I’ve ever seen.

Wow, I had no idea that “la lengua” was so difficult to pronounce.

What tools, burrito justice, eye 5 and the neighborhood.

  10. My new name for the area of The Mission around the 16th Street BART plaza is “Royal Gate”, after the plastic vodka bottles strewn everywhere.

  11. For the record, Mike Sugerman was really nice. He and his cameraman were pleasant and accommodating.

I understand all the snark re CanCan, but let’s keep in mind a news organization did their homework and spent 4 TV minutes looking into the blogger world. That’s pretty remarkable. (And I think we can thank @brittneyg and @bethspotswood for helping drag TV into the 21st century.)

    • Johnnyo, I have no idea why people are giving your idea such a hard time, but I’d like you to know that your forbearance would be inspiring to me if I had any potential for self-control at all. Your record as a Mission historian is a wonderful thing.

      • Thanks! I do believe the history angle the only reason people pay any attention to me whatsoever. But seeing all the crankypants is pretty funny, actually.

BTW, I’m loving your Flickr feed!
