Even More Mission Pizza . . . This Time on 24th St.

A new culinary endeavor seems to be emerging just down the street between Valencia and Mission, right near the panaderia and that friendly cafe with the bagel special and the tasty OJ.  It offers free delivery, but of what?  Thai food?  Medical supplies?  Further investigation is definitely in order.  Mustering the myriad skills picked up from an upbringing by Columbo, I bravely venture forth and discover:

Super Mario Pizza Wii?

Regaining my composure, I learn that yet another establishment will be joining the ongoing pizza war that is currently being waged in the Mission.  However, Andy (not Mario, sadly, but a nice name nonetheless) here informs me that his Napoletana pizza will be “better and cheaper than Amici’s,” which seems like a realistic goal.

Regarding the expected price point, Andy laments “Everything is expensive these days,” but he promises “good value.”  When asked if he could guarantee GIANT VALUE, his eyes narrowed and he swept me out of his shop with his raccoon tail.  I didn’t get a chance to ask about ingredient sourcing or vegan options, but if I can get something like Arinell without having to walk eight (8) blocks; or three (3) blocks; or two (2) blocks; or, ummm, one (1) block; then I’ll take it!

Oh, and Andy?  Just one more thing . . .

North Beach has Italians, Chinatown has Asians, The Marina has white people from SoCal, and the Mission? We have people who like junk food and are too lazy to walk more than a block to get it.

Because it’s certainly the public that is crying out for a pizza pallor instead of an small business owner looking for a decent location.

I wish there was a pizza place on every block. Yum yum. Best of luck to this small business owner. And remember, if you don’t like another pizza place you can always patronize Tuba, the restaurant that was trashed here before it even opened.

You’re lucky he wasn’t sporting the tanooki or sledge bros suit.

if you want some good pizza let me know. this city can handle a lot more decent pizza spots. and it’s happening. i say less wood fired pretension and more classic east coast deck oven pies.
