Invisible bar fight

According to SFWeekly, late Saturday night/early Sunday morning police responded to multiple calls involving an 80-200 person bar fight near 16th and Albion. When the officers arrived on scene, within minutes, the fight was nowhere to be found. Not a trace.

Here are some possible explanations for such an occurrence:

Ghosts – the people who were fighting were actually ghosts and they disappeared.

• Fighting Runners – people who fight as they run; everybody was running away from and/or into the fight at the same time and at the same speed such that the fight remained relatively static while moving through space.

West Side Story Brawl – the patrons from Monk’s Kettle and the boozers from The Kilowatt exited their respective establishments at the same moment, leading to a Sharks v. Jets style face off. Just as they began snapping at each other menacingly, the coppers were called and a little kid in a newsboy’s cap ran out into the middle of the street yelling “Scatter, it’s Officer Krupke!” The two crowds quickly dispersed into cabs and alleyways.

So, one of those three things happened.

UPDATE: Somehow a plausible fourth option is being suggested in the comments: an actual fight that originated inside Gestalt, involving a man swinging a shovel at multiple people. Sounds pretty crazy. I’d get the hell out of there in a hurry too.

#3 would only be possible if there were cabs available.

I dont understand this “cabs suck in SF” argument.

I have NEVER had a problem hailing a cab just about anywhere.

However, I see lots of people DOING IT WRONG.

      1) standing on the wrong side of the street. the cab isnt going to flip a u-turn for you.

      2) standing in an intersection or other place where stopping is not feasible

      3) standing in a mob with 20 other people trying to wave at cabs

Really, its NOT that hard to get a cab in this town.

Yes, cabs are really easy to hail in this town (if you are white and look privileged.)

        • If you are white, mostly, unless ALL the other white people in this town are trying to hail cabs on a bad day.

The “look privileged” part is totally irrelevant, since all “black” people look, to cab drivers, like people who might, according to crime statistics, shoot them in the back of the head for $20.

They mostly suck at 2 am. Other times…use taxi magic – it’s fantastico!

Some guy was swinging a large plastic shovel around. Knocked one guy out, but hit multiple people. Time to get some cops out for the 2AM club.

I was standing outside of Kilowat when all this went down. I heard what I thought was Gestalts window break followed my a massive amount of people spilling out into the street. Multiple fights, cars driving into people, A GUY RUNNING AROUND THE STREET WITH A SNOW SHOVEL LOOKING FOR THINGS TO HIT! Total madness. Ten of the most intense minutes of my life.

yeah guess it started from gestalt. i was there, but was one of the last people to leave so i didn’t even notice shit (also too preoccupied by trying to get a 24pack before 2am). but i heard one fight broke up into 6 & someone got stabbed??
